About Us

Tiffany & Oliver Moo

Moo's Barkery was started shortly after this fur baby of mine, Oliver Moo, came into my life. He got to me just in time, as all the great ones do!  It was my first time owning a dog that had so many high maintenance needs. At 1.5 years old the vet said he had to be on allergy medication for the rest of his life. One trip down the Google rabbit hole, and that's where Moo's Barkery really started.

Our Story

Soon after my sweet puppy was able to walk outside (his belly still touched the floor) he started licking his paws and one day, broke out in hives. I was feeding him Royal Canin for Bulldog Puppies. It was expensive and I thought, it was the best thing for him. An expensive trip to the emergency vet informed me that he was allergic to something either in his food, or in the environment. He loved to roll in the grass and sit on small bushes. I was told to give him over the counter allergy meds every morning and Benadryl at night. That was not something I wanted to do for the rest of his life. The breeder I got him from suggested putting powder on him before he went out. I started wiping him down after he came in and then came the ear infections .

Eventually we were prescribed Apoquel for his yeast overgrowth in his ears and to manage his allergies to the grass. Apoquel requires blood testing every few months to ensure that there is no kidney or liver damage being done. Doesn't sound like a life a new puppy should be having, does it? I didn't think so. I tried every wipe, ear cleanser, allergy medication and probiotic. Nothing was helping cure the symptoms.

I started researching the long list of ingredients on the food label. I came to the understanding that the fillers, starches, over use of carbohydrates and grains along with the  chemical preservatives were destroying his gut health. Dogs process food differently. When we overfeed them these processed foods and chemicals, they're bodies don't know what to do with them and in turn, start causing itchy paws, yeast overgrowth, skin issues, hygiene issues etc... Did you know most dogs are allergic to beef and chicken? Why is is the most common flavor used in food and treats?

It was then that  my search began for a healthy food made with simple ingredients, that was also affordable. I was  a teacher and although I did well, I was not able to afford some of the prices I was seeing for food and treats.

With little to no affordable solution, I decided to create my own. It took me a few tries to get the right treat recipe. I wanted something that was infused with superfoods for dogs who needed the immune boost, like Oliver. I made it really simple. I use fresh, local goat's milk yogurt, gluten free flour, coconut flour, honey, olive oil, coconut oil, xylitol free peanut butter, organic apple sauce and I make my own sugar free sprinkles. All of my recipes are gluten free, sugar free, xylitol free, preservative free and made with human grade food. No powders, no fillers, just plain food.

Here's the real deal...Can you make your own treats and do your own research for a recipe that's right for you? Absolutely. If you're willing to research how to bake and preserve them so they hold their nutritional value, there's no reason why you can't. Will it be less expensive than my treats? Probably not.

Along with creating recipes and processes that were best for pets, I held the price at the same level of importance. It is important to me that everyone have the ability to afford a healthy treat to give their favorite companions. I love my Moo, with my whole heart. I could not imagine the life he'd have if I had listened to those vets. I'm a fur mom, and I know what's best for my fur baby.  Let me help you find what's best for yours!

PS- We have an amazing Vet now, keep looking they're out there!
